Description générale
McCoy′s 5A Medium is recommended to produce viruses in primary cell cultures.
Application
McCoy′s 5A Medium has been used for culturing:
- human colon carcinoma cell lines (HCT116, RKO, FET, CBS, HCT116b, and TENN) to study the function of leucine-rich repeat-containing G-protein-coupled receptor (LGR5) in colon cancer metastasis
- human colorectal HCT116 cells to study miR-224 over-expression in cancer
- osteoblasts to study ion reactivity of calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite in standard cell culture media
Actions biochimiques/physiologiques
McCoy′s 5A Medium has been originally developed to support liver tumor cells by modification of the amino acids found in BME. This formulation has also been used to support the growth of primary cultures of bone marrow, skin, gingiva, kidney, omentum, adrenals, lung, spleen, rat embryos, and other cell types.
Quantité
Formulated to contain 11.9 grams of powder per liter of medium.
Reconstitution
Supplement with 2.2 g/L sodium bicarbonate.

MicroRNA-224 (miR-224) is frequently over-expressed in liver and colorectal cancers. We and others have previously described the role of miR-224 over-expression in cell proliferation in vitro but we have yet to identify the relevant miR-224 direct target. In this study
