Gene Information
rat ... CXCL12(24772)
General description
Stromal cell-derived factor 1 α and β (SDF-1α and β) are stromal derived CXC chemokines, and signal through the C-X-C motif chemokine receptor-4 (CXCR4). SDF-1α is also known as C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12). Recombinant rat SDF-1α is a 7.9kDa protein containing 68 amino acid residues.
Application
Stromal cell-derived factor 1 α (SDF-1α ) has been used in cell migration assay and fibrin gel bead assay.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Stromal cell-derived factor 1 α and β (SDF-1α and β) chemoattract B and T cells, and have been shown to induce migration of CD34+ stem cells. Additionally, the SDF-1 proteins exert HIV suppressive activity in cells expressing the CXCR4 receptor. SDF-1 α modulates leukocyte and hematopoietic precursor migration and pre-B cell proliferation.

Physical form
Lyophilized with no additives.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Do not vortex. This solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, it is recommended to further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein (example 0.1% BSA) and store in working aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
