General description

Vials are suitable basically to inject samples from an autosampler. They are available in various sizes, although 2 mL vials are more commonly used. Autosampler needle pierces through the cap during injection and withdraws the required aliquots of sample from the vials. Screw top vials are used on many autosamplers with a standard opening of 4.6 mm. Amber glass vials (volume 2 mL) are useful in preventing the sensitive analyte under investigation from exposure to UV light. The threads on the standard vials are 8-425. The polypropylene cap is autoclavable and it can withstand the temperature up to 135° C. The PTFE/silicone septum is sized to fit screw top vials. It is suitable for use with most organics (until pierced) and is not recommended for use with chlorosilanes.
