Biochem/physiol Actions

8-nitro-cGMP is a second messenger of nitric oxide, which is involved in intracellular redox signaling. 8-nitro-cGMP is a potent inhibitor of tau aggregation. 8-nitro-cGMP induces S-guanylation of tau both in vitro and in tau overexpressed HEK293T cells, which inhibits heparin-induced tau aggregation.
