Description

General description

Lithium bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide (LiBETI) is an electrolytic salt used in lithium-ion electrolytes. It is a white powder with a high melting point of 328 °C that is soluble in many polar solvents including water, acetonitrile, and many of the carbonates used in traditional lithium-ion liquid electrolytes.

Application

LiBETI finds use in lithium-ion batteries, including organic liquid electrolytes, water-in-salt electrolytes, and polymer electrolytes. LiBETI has been found to have much better durability against moisture than LiPF₆ or LiBF₄, especially at high operating temperatures. Additionally, LiBETI is less corrosive to aluminum current collectors than other imide-based electrolytic salts like LiTFSI.
