Titanium(IV) oxide, mixture of rutile and anatase (TiO₂) nanopowder is a photocatalytic material with anatase and rutile as the crystalline phases. The two minerals are utilized in photocatalysis due to their efficient charge separation across phase junctions.

Application

Photoelectrodes of varying properties can be made using colloidal suspensions of titanium(IV) oxide nanoparticles.

TiO₂ can be used in a variety of medical implants, such as dental implants, spinal fixations, and joint replacements. It can also be used in a stable colloidal solution for the formation of RPMI cell culture medium. It forms a conductive layer in the fabrication of dye sensitized solar cells.
