General description

Ipconazole is an antimicrobial agent that destroys fungi and belongs to a class of compounds called azoles, which inhibit the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. By disrupting the structure and function of fungal cell membranes, Ipconazole is able to stop the growth and reproduction of fungi.

Application

Pconazole has been investigated for its potential use in the synthesis of new antifungal compounds, as well as for its antifungal mechanism of action and structure-activity relationships.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ipconazole inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of fungal cell membranes, leading to the formation of defective fungal cell membranes and causing fungal cell death. Ipconazole is active against Fungi, including including Aspergillus, Blastomyces, Candida, Coccidioides, Histoplasma, and Sporothrix species.
