General description

Cobalt(II) acetylacetonate is a coordination compound commonly used as a precursor to synthesize cobalt-containing materials. It can also be used as a catalyst in organic synthesis.

Application

Cobalt(II) acetylacetonate can be used as a catalyst for oxidative isocyanide insertion and catalytic cycloaddition reactions. Additionally, Co(acac)2 is also used in allylic and benzylic oxidation reactions.

Cobalt(II) acetylacetonate can be used as a catalyst for the dehydration reaction of aldoximes to synthesize nitriles.
