Application

Dimethyl 3,4-furandicarboxylate can be used as a reactant to synthesize:

• Luminescent lanthanide-furandicarboxylate coordination polymer through hydrolysis with lanthanide ions.
• Polyesters via polycondensation with linear biobased aliphatic diols.
• Furanmonomers via lithium aluminium hydride (LiAlH₄) reduction, which then react with maleimides to form furan-maleimide Diels-Alder adducts for thermally responsive dendrons and dendrimers.
